Oh boy, where to start with this past weekend’s Tournament of Defense? With 91 fencers it was the largest ToD ever, and I think the largest rapier gathering I’ve ever taken part in.
ToD was my first rapier-focused event since Warder Liu Kuaici took me on as a cadet a few months ago, so we finally got the chance to do the red-scarf ceremony. Then just mere hours later, my cadet-sister Maebhdh Ni Manainn was surprise raised to the Order of the Bronze Ring! Then immediately after that, Michelangelo’s surprise elevation to the Order of Defense! It was a big day for many of my friends and I was glad to get to be a part of it.
I got some very quick kills dealt to me by the MoDs during A-game (as expected) and some very good instruction during the breakout sessions. My deepest thanks to all of the MoDs that took the time to come out to the event to instruct the next generation of Midrealm fencers!
I was also able to present a set of largesse to their majesties: 23 of my new embossed Midrealm award medallions (10 Evergreen, 5 Purple Fret, and 8 Grove), which I’ll show off the process of in more detail soon. Now that I’ve got the process down I’ll have plenty to supply the crown, and will likely start taking orders in the near future if there’s interest.
I may be making my way out to Grand Tournament of the Dragon later this month, but next event I’ll definitely be at will be Three Saints in my homeland of Rivenstar. Looking forward to seeing folks there!
