(This is a compilation of multiple objects that fall within the same general project profile that do not require individual pages. It will be updated as more are created.)
This project began in February 2024 when a call went out to the Midrealm A&S community for award medallions the crown was running short on. I’d pondered the idea of making custom leather embossing stamps before, and this gave me enough reason to finally give it a shot.
In the near future I will be releasing downloadable 3D models of the stamps, as well as a tutorial on the modeling process.

Process
The medallion patterns are embossed using custom stamps I modeled and 3D printed (stamp overview & coming soon). A tremendous thank you to Tali Essen of the Isles for the high-resolution award graphics, which saved a fair amount of time in modeling the award stamps.

Normally embossing is done by striking the stamp with a hammer, but due to the size of these stamps it is almost impossible to get a clean impresison from one hit, and as the stamps are made of resin instead of metal there is a high chance of the fine detail lines shattering from a sharp impact.

By gradually applying pressure with a screw clamp or arbor press, a much cleaner impression is made with no damage to the stamp.
After they are punched out, I like to paint them in their appropriate blazons.

But if a lot are needed in a short time, the medallions can stand on their own with just the embossing itself.

For any paint work on leather, I like to use Angelus brand acrylic leather paint for all colors, and a brush-on leaf for metallic tones.
