Notes

These runic disks were commisisoned by Theresa at The Knotted Cloak to serve as button-like embellishments along the front trim of several viking themed cloaks.

One set was done in Elder Futhark, an iconic norse/proto-germanic script and one of the oldest runic scripts in the world (estimated to originate in the 1st century AD). Once stamped, the disks were rubbed with dark brown antiquing gel to give it a deep two-toned look.

The other set was done in the lesser known Ogham, an early Celtic script originating between the 1st and 4th centuries, and used to write Old Irish and Early Irish. Keeping with the natural Celtic theme, theses were soaked in dark green dye and small blotches of brown to create a feeling of earth and nature.

Both sets of runes were embossed using custom stamps I designed and 3D printed (tutorial coming soon).
