Notes
These coins were made as a thank-you to the teachers at the martial session of the Royal University of Midrealm in Spring 2026. The coins were included in the favor bags that went out to all the teachers.
The obverse bears the motto of the University: NAM IGNICULUS LUX (“For even the spark is light, for even love is light”)
The reverse bears an image of the symbol of the university, the Pillar of Wisdom, bearing the 3 gems as Lanterns of Knowledge: service, arts, and martial.
I was still relatively new to engraving at the time I made this, and you can certainly see it on the pillar. The outline of the pillar and the gems turned out phenomenally, but then once I started adding ridges and spirals to the column I had a few slips of the graver, resulting in stray lines and uneven spacing. There wasn’t time to make a new die, so I did my best to cover it with shading and additional detail lines.
