There wasn’t any specific historical inspiration for this coin. Unless otherwise requested by who I am making them for, when doing site token coins my focus is more on clearly illustrating what the event was over using historical designs.
These coins were created to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Barony of Rivenstar, and were used as site tokens for All Saints and a 50th Anniversary. The outside rings of both sides were done using punchwork, and the large interior designs were engraved. The engraved areas were frosted (using the technique described HERE) for additional contrast with the background.
Coincidentally, it was at this event that I was made a member of the Order of the Evergreen for my work in coin making. Both making the coins and receiving my evergreen was a huge honor, and was incredibly meaningful to happen in Rivenstar. Rivenstar was my first home in the SCA, and where I found my love of both rapier and moneying.
